Besama Waterfall, nestled in Passara within the Badulla district, is a serene cascade with an unrecorded height. Comprising both a slow-shutter lower fall and upper fall, the waterfall is enveloped by lush greenery, courtesy of its remote forest surroundings. The pool at the base of Besama Waterfall offers a tranquil spot for swimming and bathing. Notably, the waterfall derives its name from the Sinhala term “Besama,” signifying the basin-like shape of its pool.

Location:
Besama Falls is located in Yapamma village on the Bibila-Badulla main road, accessible via a short distance from the main road.

 

Getting There:
From Ella, take the Ella–Passara Road, passing through Balleketuwa and Namunukula until you reach Passara. At Passara, turn onto the Peradeniya-Badulla-Chenkaladi Highway, following this route to reach Besama Waterfall. The road is well-maintained, and any vehicle can approach the falls closely.
